Melanie Betts is the practice owner of Melanie Betts Physiotherapy


Melanie has over 30 years experience, with postgraduate qualifications in applied and Practical physiotherapy in Sports from University College London (1996), and a MSc in Manipulative Therapy in 2001 at Coventry University. 

Melanie  has worked within the NHS framework and in America, Florida. On returning from America in 1995, she moved into private practice. 

Throughout her career, Melanie has been involved in various sports medicine roles. Providing physiotherapy services for Dewsbury RFC, World Student Games (1995) and World figure skating championship (1995). She worked with the Great Britain Swimming Team from 1995-1999, was the governing body physiotherapist for the Great Britain Target Shooting Team 2001-2010. These roles  took her to Manchester 2002, Melbourne 2006 & Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, and the Athens Olympic Games 2004 & London Olympics 2012.

 

Melanie is an experienced triathlete. She has represented Great Britain age group teams at multiple World and European championships; in distances ranging from Sprint to Full distance.

Melanie is a clinical mentor for post-graduate physiotherapists from universities around the country undertaking MSc degrees in physiotherapy related specialities.

 Charlotte Ward Grad Dip Phys MCSP HPC registered 

 

 Charlotte Ward is our lead physiotherapist at the Wildmoor Spa. Charlotte is a Chartered Physiotherapist, specialising in the treatment of musculoskeletal and sports injuries using manual therapy and acupuncture. Charlotte qualified in 1990 working initially in the NHS gaining wide experience in all aspects of physiotherapy, including setting up a successful private sports injury clinic. 

She went on to specialise in Orthopaedic Medicine gaining valuable experience in a prestigious orthopaedic and trauma hospital in Toronto. Charlotte has an array of experience treating back and neck pain after having worked for several years at a specialist spine clinic in the United States. Whilst living in the USA, she also worked with Orthopaedic Consultants specialising in ACL reconstruction and Rotator Cuff repairs. This has given her a special interest in knee and shoulder injuries. 

Charlotte has now been in private practice since returning from the USA and during this time, she has continued to develop her skills through postgraduate courses. She has a particular interest in assessing postural, muscle and movement imbalances and prescribing exercises to help her clients regain full function.

 


 

 

Karelle Moore B.Sc Grad Dip Phys, Grad Dip Manip. Phys MCSP MAACP HCPC 

 

Karelle trained in Sydney Australia, completing a Science Degree, Post-Graduate Physiotherapy followed by specialisation in Manipulative Physiotherapy aimed at treating musculo-skeletal issues. Since moving to the UK, she has undertaken PostGraduate Acupuncture.

Over the course of her career, Karelle has run a successful private practice in Australia treating people from all walks of life; she was also the Physiotherapist with The Australian Ballet, and worked at a world-recognised Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Centre as part of a team of specialist doctors and physiotherapists whose client base included international teams such as rugby, cricket, netball, hockey, and elite athletes including local and international Olympians.

Since 1994 she has lived in the UK working in private practice treating a broad range of musculoskeletal issues in all age groups. Karelle brings a constantly updated depth of knowledge to assessment and treatment of neck and back problems as well as peripheral injuries to the upper and lower limb.

Her essential premise is to consider injuries within the context of the whole person rather than looking at a presenting problem in isolation; this then informs her treatment involving hands-on manual therapy, acupuncture, electrotherapy and exercise prescription as appropriate.
